- next, to celebrate the physical release in SHOPS of the fantastic second single from HELP STAMP OUT LONELINESS, the february release from the FREE wiaiwya download singles club is the PACIFIC TRASH VORTEX remix ep... it's available on the downloads page... feel free to tell all your friends, feature on your blogs, you know... all that stuff...

the first is a dub take by wiaiwya's own DJ DOWNFALL, who has been keeping himself busy albumming a new album, mixing mixes for the PAINS OF BEING PURE AT HEART, the PIPETTES and 'ALLO, DARLIN', and of course guitarring for TENDER TRAP... nice...

the second mix comes from the enigmatic TALL WHITE GUY, a remix producer based in Manchester, UK. He "loves all music including Finnish Heavy Metal. Recently recovered from a near suicidal tendency towards Post-Punk, Death Disco and EBM, now getting major kicks from Twee Pop, Nuggets Psychedelia and Electro Disco. Looking for friendship, remixing and maybe more."

the first release of the new decade

hi

happy christmas and everything... hope you had a great break

2010 is going to be a BIG year for wiaiwya, and we're hitting the ground running...

WE'RE MAKING HISTORY WITH THE VERY FIRST RELEASE OF THE NEW DECADE*

it is the debut solo single by DAVID TATTERSALL (lead singer of the Wave Pictures), a free download of "HAPPY FOR A WHILE" - the title track from his forthcoming album (due in april on wiaiwya), co-written and featuring Stanley Brinks (AKA Andre Herman Dune)

1000 FREE downloads will be available from 00:01 on the 1st January 2010 (that's 00:01 01 01 10 binary fans) at www.wiaiwya.com, backed up with the WAVE PICTURES cover of the Springsteen classic "PONY BOY"

hope you like it, and if you were able to help promote it in any way it would be amazing...

happy new year, and speak soon

JANUARY 2010 - wiaiwya059 - David Tattersall - Happy For A While

*oh, and if anyone's worried that i'm a year premature with my decades - a decade is any ten years, and that can be from January 23, 1995 to January 22, 2005. The "10s," however, is that decade every century during which the numeral "1" appears next-to-last in the year number...

more CHRISTMAS

the ever lovely Hong Kong in the 60s have a video for their Winter Symphony HIT... splendid:

SHRAG on Radio Two

Excitingly the new shrag single is up for single of the week on radio two’s Radcliffe and Maconie program

It’s all down to a vote though, so, assuming none of the others is a personal favourite of yours, would you mind going here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/the-radcliffe-and-maconie-show/pick-and-mix/

clicking on the “web email form” button (about half way down the page)

and on the “send the show an email” form filling in your name and an email address, and putting “shrag’s Rabbit Kids” in the comments box

and feel free to tell anyone else who might be able to help

thanks...

new SHRAG and FREE Christmas ep

yup... the brand new single from Brighton's SHRAG arrived today:

RABBIT KIDS / ERRATIC FICTIONS 7” (Where It’s At Is Where You Are)

Shrag release their 6th single for WIAIWYA on December 14th. Mixed by Woodie Taylor (Comet Gain/Love Is All), ‘Rabbit Kids’ is the first offering from their upcoming album.

The new single has already been previewed in Pitchfork (28/10/2009): “…

“Brighton, UK-based quintet Shrag, like many of their 1970s indie-punk forebears, are one of those bands whose tunes and natural charisma could easily endear them to a wider audience, but whom the vagaries of record release dates, hype cycles, and airline prices have so far conspired to keep a well-loved secret...(Rabbit Kids) is bright, scrappy, and exuberantly melodic enough to rank alongside tracks by Love is All, the Long Blondes, or early Los Campesinos!. A few more like this, and Shrag might break through yet…”

AND

the December release from the FREE wiaiwya monthly singles club is a 4 track ep of Christmas songs, natch, two covers and two originals

DECEMBER 2009 - wiaiwya058 - Various Artists - Happy Christmas 2009

first up is HONG KONG IN THE 60S with their take on the Beach Boys WINTER SYMPHONY, all droney and broadcasty and morriconey and utterly lovely
http://www.myspace.com/hongkonginthe60s

then the LAST DINOSAUR go all melancholy for THE WORST CHRISTMAS WE EVER HAD, and acoustic departure from their epic debut long player "Hooray! for Happiness"
http://www.myspace.com/thelastdinosauruk

OH, ATOMS reinterpret Wham's LAST CHRISTMAS as a folky boy/ girl duet
http://www.myspace.com/ohatoms

and finally GREGORY WEBSTER gets out his trusty 12 string, and invites PAM BERRY round to re-record the classic, WINTER from his first solo record
http://www.myspace.com/gregorywebster

November FREE single from Thewintersleep (no, not that one)

excitingly, November's FREE download release is two new recordings from the original Thewintersleep... like a sucession of tiny heartbreaks surrounded by a moat of melancholia, strummed on a tiny guitar... perfect for Autumnal listening...
